Arsenal striker Lacazette aiming to impress in premier league
Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette is convinced he will be a success in the Premier League even though he struggled at times last term.
The 27-year-old France international joined the Gunners from Lyon last summer and scored 17 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions in the 2017/18 campaign.
He was criticised for some of his displays though and was used as a substitute by then boss Arsene Wenger at times in the second half of the campaign following the purchase of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund in January.
It had been thought that Aubameyang’s arrival would mean Lacazette would leave Arsenal this summer but the Frenchman is determined to show he can be a success in England.
He said: “I don’t care how people judge me. I know if I stay in Arsenal the club is happy and my team-mates as well. This is the most important thing.
“It (last season) has finished and for me it’s the past. OK, when I didn’t score, of course I was frustrated but it’s finished. It was my first season so I can’t be too hard on myself, even if I wanted to score more goals.
“I’ve learnt from this and now I am happy to start a new season. “I didn’t see him [Aubameyang] as a rival, more like a team-mate, so since the beginning I was happy about his signature.”
