Six Nations – Former Scotland centre Scott Hastings says he wants to see Gregor Townsend’s side “meet real fire with fire” when they host France on Sunday.
Much was expected of the Scots ahead of their trip to Cardiff last week after an impressive autumn.
However it was the same story for Scotland at the Principality Stadium as they suffered a 34-7 defeat at the hands of the Welsh.
Hastings feels the Scots must dust themselves off and go again with a physical and aggressive performance against the French at Murrayfield.
He was quoted by the BBC, saying: “Just because Scotland got absolutely wiped on Saturday, it doesn’t mean they can’t respond accordingly.
“You have now got two teams desperate to win their first game in the Six Nations.
“We know France are going to be really physical, they certainly showed that against Ireland, and Scotland are going to have to meet real fire with fire.
“Home advantage should see them through, but they have to deliver that accuracy within the game that we saw last season under Vern Cotter, that Gregor has enhanced on the summer tour and in the autumn series. It is a matter of getting the right blend.”
Scotland are 2/5 to win and 2/1 to lose to the French in Edinburgh.
