By odds24

Bubba Watson is in fine form ahead of the Masters, having beaten Kevin Kisner 7 & 6 to win the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Championship in Texas.

On a busy final day at the Austin Country Club, Bubba Watson had first eliminated second seed Justin Thomas 3 & 2 in the semi-finals.

Kisner joined him in the Championship match after edging out Alex Noren at the first extra hole of the other semi, but the final was no contest after Bubba Watson won the first five holes.

Watson took his lead to 7-up with wins at 7 and 10 before closing out the match with a birdie-4 at the 12th. It gave him an 11th PGA Tour title.

Two-time Masters champion Watson said of Kisner: “Obviously it showed that his battle (with Noren) took a lot out of him.

“I think it was just energy. I don’t think I scared him on the first tee. I think it was just his energy was gone after a couple of holes. And he was fighting, but just didn’t have the fight that he really wanted and needed.”

Bubba Watson is gearing up for the mastersVictory makes Bubba just the fifth player, alongside Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy, to have won multiple World Golf Championships and multiple Majors.

“It’s absolutely amazing,” he said. “You know, you don’t think about lists or anything, you just think about trophies and trying to win. And having two majors, and now having two World Golf Championships, the closest things to majors. You’re talking about the top in the world were here this week.

“So what an honour and a privilege, overwhelming sensation to know that I have another trophy at the house.”

Meanwhile, looking ahead to the Masters at Augusta National, the American added: “Obviously I want a Green Jacket. I never felt a coat feel so good.

“That’s the greatest golf tournament that’s ever been played. A third time, I mean I don’t know if I can get lucky three times.

“I’m always excited about the Masters. Every person, no matter how old or how young gets excited when they hit Magnolia Lane and the champions locker room.”
