Latest Team News:
Man City – Pep Guardiola has indicated that he will attempt to add a defensive midfielder to his Manchester City squad before the transfer window closes on Thursday. Guardiola was speaking after last season’s Premier League champions had easily beaten FA Cup winners Chelsea 2-0 on Sunday at Wembley in the Community Shield. City have been linked with Juventus’ Miralem Pjanic, Mateo Kovacic of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti, although Guardiola is keeping his cards close to his chest.
Everton – Marco Silva is desperate to add at least one central defender to his Everton squad before Thursday’s transfer deadline. Since Silva succeeded Sam Allardyce in the Goodison Park hot-seat he has signed Richarlison from Watford and left-back Lucas Digne but knows central defence remains his side’s main weakness.
Chelsea – Brazil international Willian says he has decided to stay at Chelsea after holding positive talks with new Blues boss Maurizio Sarri. The 29-year-old had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer and was criticised by Sarri after failing to return to pre-season training on time.
Man Utd – Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has warned that it will be a difficult season for the club unless they buy some new players this week. The transfer window closes on Thursday and Mourinho has only signed Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant this summer while the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal have spent heavily on squad strengthening.
