Leicester City Transfer News Premier League Season for 2018/19

Leicester coach Claude Puel believes it is important for Harry Maguire to remain at the King Power Stadium for next season

Maguire is currently enjoying a break after playing a major role in England’s run to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.

The central defender was one of several Three Lions players to enhance their reputations during the tournament and Maguire is now understood to be on the radar of a number of rival Premier League clubs.

Leicester City Transfer News - Puel calls on Maguire to stayThe 25-year-old only made the switch from Hull City to Leicester last summer and was a regular during the 2017/18 campaign, both under Craig Shakespeare and his successor Puel.

Puel is eager not to lose one of the key members of his squad so late in the summer transfer window and says it would be best if the former Sheffield United man stayed put.

“It is important for Maguire to continue for Leicester,” he told Sky Sports.

“It is a good feeling. If our players are interesting a lot of clubs it is because we are recruiting well and doing good work. It is important we continue this.

“When we welcome players back from the World Cup, I hope we can give them the opportunity to continue advancing their ambitions and perform in the Premier League.”

Maguire is expected to return for pre-season with Leicester shortly but it remains to be seen whether he will be ready for the opening game of the new campaign at Manchester United on 10th August. Leicester City transfer news will no doubt continue until the deadline so keep coming back for more updates.
