Harry Kane is refusing to give up on winning the Golden Boot this season despite being five goals behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The Tottenham striker is currently sitting on 24 Premier League goals for the season as he looks to emulate Thierry Henry’s feat between 2003-06 by winning the Golden Boot for three successive seasons.
However, Kane could yet have another goal added to his tally if Tottenham appeal against the Premier League Match Centre’s decision to award their second goal in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Stoke to the England international instead of Christian Eriksen.
Obviously as a striker, it would be great to win the Golden Boot again and I will keep working hard from now until the end of the season.
He was adamant that the ball brushed his shoulder on its way past Potters goalkeeper Jack Butland and is hopeful that the Premier League will take his word for it and give him the goal.
If not, Kane still feels he can overhaul Salah in Spurs’ remaining six matches after the Egyptian took full advantage of his recent ankle injury lay-off by adding five more goals to his own tally in Liverpool’s games against Watford and Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old said: “I still believe I can.
“Look, whatever happens, there are still games to go. I’ve got to focus on my game. I can’t control what he does.
