Neymar is pleased that he has been able to prove he is fit enough to play in the World Cup after scoring in Brazil’s 3-0 victory against Austria on Sunday.
For a player like Neymar, the expectations at the World Cup are set on unimaginably high levels, and the pressure is huge.
The Paris Saint-Germain star had been sidelined for three months with a broken foot but impressed against the Austrians as he scored his 55th goal for Brazil – the same number as Romario.
He had also scored on his return to action earlier this month in the 2-0 friendly victory over Croatia and is pleased with his form and fitness.
He said: “For me it is a great honour, great happiness to reach Romario, to be among the top scorers of the Brazilian team.”
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring against Austria while former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho grabbed the third.
“You have to trust, you dream,” he added. “You can talk, you’re Brazilian and you can dream; we’re dreaming more and more. Dreaming is not forbidden.”
Brazil World Cup Odds
Brazil can be backed at 9/4 to reach the World Cup final and 4/1 to win the tournament. Neymar is 9/1 to be the leading goalscorer in Russia, while Brazil are available at 2/5 to win their first game against Switzerland on 17th June.
