England World Cup Odds are shorter than ever been with Ladbrokes to win the World Cup.
Following a flurry of bets since victory over Panama on Sunday, the bookies responded by slashing odds on Gareth Southgate’s men going all the way to just 8/1 – the shortest price they’ve been to date.
That means, according to the betting, the Three Lions are almost as likely as Germany (7/1) and France (15/2) to lift the trophy next month.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “England’s odds of winning the World Cup have never been shorter as patriotic punters up and down the country continue to get behind Southgate’s squad.”
Despite not being particularly happy with his team’s display, Gareth Southgate hailed England’s ruthlessness after they had beaten Panama 6-1. Panama were poor, but they did create several chances of their own with Southgate admitting that their style of play caused his side some problems.
England v Belgium
England can be backed at 17/10 to beat Belgium in their final Group G match on Thursday while they are 9/1 to win World Cup 2018 outright.
Roberto Martinez has indicated that he will rest most of his star players when Belgium take on England at World Cup 2018 on Thursday.
The Red Devils have already clinched their place in the round of 16 by beating Panama 3-0 and Tunisia 5-2.
Romelu Lukaku scored twice against Tunisia on Saturday but picked up an ankle injury in the 59th minute, while Hazard, who also found the net twice, sustained a calf problem. In addition Dries Mertens suffered an ankle injury during the match. Belgium are 4/1 to be eliminated from World Cup 2018 in the semi-finals and 2/1 to beat England on Thursday.
