Here’s the latest Chelsea News :
Antonio Conte has praised the ‘commitment’ of his Chelsea players despite the consistent speculation surrounding his future as manager.
The Italian position at The Bridge has been called into question with the axe seemingly certain after recent successive defeats against Bournemouth and Watford in which the side conceded seven goals and having scored just once.
Chelsea hopes of retaining their Premier League title are all but over as they sit 22 points adrift of leaders Manchester City and have dropped out of the top four places after Tottenham’s 1-0 win against Arsenal on Saturday.
I’m very happy with the commitment of my players, and the behaviour of my players.
Antonio Conte has spoken out to insist the talk about his future in the job is not hampering his players and he has no complaints about their attitude despite the poor results.
“I don’t think talking about my future can affect the players,” he said.
“Otherwise, from the first game we lost against Burnley, this could have happened. My players are not used to it, but they are getting used to these rumours and speculation. But, for sure, I’m very happy.
“I’m very happy with the commitment of my players, and the behaviour of my players.”
Conte also reiterated that he would like to remain in charge of Chelsea FC and added: “After the summer? But… as you know very well, my contract expires in 2019.
“This is my opinion. At the same time, I have great respect for every opinion. If the club decides to send me away, I don’t know when, it’ll be because they’re not happy with my work.”
Chelsea, who are 1/1 to finish in the top four this season, can jump back above Spurs with a home win against bottom club West Brom on Monday and are 4/11 to secure the three points. The Baggies are available at 9/1 and the draw is 17/4.
